Number 10 Christmas card

An image from the Number 10 Christmas card for 2009The Prime Minister and Sarah Brown send their warm wishes for Christmas.

This year the official Number 10 Christmas card features a Number 10 tree decoration hung on British holly at London’s Kew Gardens.

The photograph was taken by 19-year-old Jordan Mary, winner of the CIWEM Young Environmental Photographer of 2009.

The Prime Minister and Sarah Brown have made a number of changes to make Number 10 more sustainable, including printing the Christmas card on sustainably-sourced board, introducing a vegetable garden, a wormery, bee boxes, Fairtrade products, a sustainable fish policy, cruelty-free cleaning products and composting.

All proceeds from the card will go WaterAid, an international charity which helps the world’s poorest people gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.
