14 May 2009, Guoman Tower Hotel, London

For the second year running the Cabinet Office and Intellect hosted an event designed to bring together 350 public and private sector officials ranging from chief executives and senior managers to customer facing staff. This event formed an important part of the government calendar for public sector engagement and service transformation.

What was talked about?

Tower 09 focused on achievements to date and how these can be built upon to progress the large scale transformation of public services. It also covered how public services are designed, enabled and delivered, to make a positive difference to the lives of citizens. The objectives of the conference was to encourage the sharing of experience and innovation between leaders; to celebrate success; and to ensure that those actually driving service transformation across government understand the government priorities and provide support for those proposing radical reform.

The theme for this event was 'Putting Citizens and Businesses in Control' and covered:

  • empowering citizens in the digital age
  • frontline engagement
  • focus on the consumer/customer/user of public services to businesses
