Northern Ireland Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA)

Summary Report of the Consultation Responses to the Northern Ireland proposals (outside of the Belfast urban centre)

The views from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) customers, MPs, MLAs, Equality organisations, staff and unions in respect of the EQIA on the Northern Ireland proposals are published today. This review included the office accommodation in the following locations in Northern Ireland:

  • Ballymena
  • Banbridge
  • Coleraine
  • Craigavon
  • Enniskillen
  • Londonderry
  • Newry

In accordance with Section 75 of the NI Act 1998 HMRC invited the public to comment on these proposals with regard to the potential impact on diverse groups within its workforce, customer base and the local community.

The ten week consultation period ended on 20 August 2008. A total of 1,062 responses were received conveying the views of 1,386 people.

The Department will continue to seek guidance and take advice on the EQIA process from the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.

It is expected that decisions on the Northern Ireland proposals will be published in winter 2008. A full official response to the EQIA consultation will also be published around this time.
