About Building Britain’s Future

Building Britain’s Future (BBF) is the Government’s plan to work with the British people to shape our economic recovery and together build a stronger, fairer and more prosperous country.

BBF addresses the big challenges before us. It sets out how we will invest in jobs, opportunity and growth, while also strengthening public services in health, education and support for families. We know you want a just and responsible society so we’re also fighting hard on crime, and giving you a say on policing and justice in your local area.

Thanks to our active intervention and investment, the economy is recovering and businesses and families have received much-needed help. These are positive results, but there is still some way to go. Under BBF, we’ll keep investing to ensure economic growth continues and to build Britain’s future.

About this site

This website gives an overview of Building Britain's Future plans and keeps you up to date with latest activities.

Since the launch of BBF on 29 June 2009, we’ve been collecting your views through this website, through consultation on draft legislation and at BBF events all around the country.

We’ll publish a response to your comments this winter. Now we’ve taken your comments on board, this website will focus on helping you find out more about the key areas of work we’re delivering into early 2010:

  • Consumer rights – increasing fairness in finance and awareness of consumer rights
  • Crime – putting communities in control of neighbourhood policing
  • Education – increasing access to Sure Start childcare and family services
  • Health – providing services based on need, not ability to pay
  • Housing – investing and acting to support the recovery and meet the housing need
  • Low carbon – leading to secure a global deal on climate change
  • Youth jobs – calling employers to action to offer young people job and skills opportunities

You can submit general comments on BBF or this website at Have your say.
