HANDLING CHARGES

Reference materials are free of charge, however a handling fee was implemented to contribute towards the increasing costs of reagent storage, processing, administration duties and packaging. The handling charges are being maintained at the current level and funds previously generated are being used to improve the service provided by the CJD Resource Centre.

Handling charges are as follows:
£25.00 per homogenate tube.
£7.00 per peptide vial.
£120.00 per peptide panel (19 vials total; 1 of each).

£
£550.00-590.00 per spiked plasma panel (22-24 tubes per panel).**

VALUE ADDED TAX (VAT).
Value Added Tax (VAT) is automatically added to these charges to all customers in the UK or European Union.

Our VAT number: 350585161

However, your organisation may not be subject to VAT for one of three reasons:

1. Your organisation is based in the UK and is using donated or charitable funds to obtain CJD reagents. You may be entitled to zero rating of these supplies. You should provide a current VAT exemption certificate with each reagent order detailing the items requested and signed by a responsible financial officer in the form prescribed by Customs and Excise.

Sending exemption notices after the reagent request has been placed can cause invoicing problems and may result in you being unnecessarily charged VAT.

2. Your organisation is based in another EU Member State and is registered for the equivalent of VAT in that state (e.g. TVA, BTW, MVD, MWS, OTIA and IVA). You should provide your EU VAT Registration number with your order. You will then be charged no VAT, but will pay any local VAT rate on the intra EU import to your own tax authority. Failure to provide this number will require us to charge UK VAT, which you may reclaim from your tax authority.

3. Your organisation is based outside the European Union. Your order will be processed as an export sale and is not subject to any UK taxes.
In all cases the recipient will be responsible for any local import or other taxes levied outside the UK.

ORDERING INFORMATION
Please Note!! Although we endeavour to meet all requests for reagents, these resources are finite, hence we reserve the right to use our discretion when dispatching reagents.

Scientists requesting reagents must complete the current version of the CJD Resource Centre requisition form.  Completed forms can be submitted by FAX, though the original signed copies must also be sent via post.  Scientists are requested to complete the Release forms clearly and completely.  Failure to complete all relevant sections may result in the delay of reagents being dispatched.

If the address to which the invoice should be sent differs from the delivery address, please ensure that this address is clearly stated in your reagent request, together with a contact name.
Invoices for reagents will normally be issued 2-3 weeks after receipt of the reagents.

ORDERS FROM OUTSIDE THE UK
Where necessary, a valid importation permit should be included.  Scientists are encouraged to contact their local customs authority if they are unsure about import regulations.  The Internet sites listed below may be of some help to scientists unsure of importation restrictions and requirements.

Please Note: all importation permits must have the correct material listed in the import permit and where necessary the shippers name and address and the destination address. Some authorities offer the option of having a broad range of materials listed eg. TSE infected blood, tissue, urine instead of specific material eg 5 tubes human brain homogenate code NHBX..... Some also offer the ability to list the shipper as various. In all cases you should approach the relevant authority and ask them in clear terms what the actual requirements are. Eg. Shipment to the USA has required a Permit of import from the CDC and an importation sticker (both of which should be included with the requisition form).

BROKERS If your institute/ company has an option to use a brokerage company that can handle materials on your behalf from the local airport please provide details on the requisition form. For clarification purposes a brokerage firm will recieve the parcel at the airport, assist in its transit through local customs and deliver the parcel to you. This speeds up deliveries and avoids potential problems with delays at customs and problems finding addresses.
