An employment-based route into teaching 2003-06
The Graduate Teacher Programme is a route into teaching whereby schools train teachers on the job. It has been successful in recruiting good candidates into teaching. Designated recommending bodies (DRBs) are responsible for recruiting candidates, organising training and assessing trainees. Since 2003, Ofsted has inspected all DRBs. This report provides an overview of the three years of inspection.

An employment-based route into teaching 2004/05
This report is based on the second year of inspections of designated recommending bodies (DRBs) which manage training through the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP), an employment-based route into teaching. The report updates the findings from the report of the first year of inspection, published in January 2005. Ofsted found that the strengths and weaknesses of DRBs inspected in 2004/05 were similar to those found in the previous year.

An evaluation of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation's Musical Futures Project
The Musical Futures Project, funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, is exploring different approaches to music provision in Key Stage 3. Ofsted was asked by the project to evaluate its work. This report summarises visits to a small sample of schools in Hertfordshire and Nottingham. The findings are presented in relation to the areas of focus agreed with the director of the project.

An evaluation of the post-16 citizenship pilot 2004/05: a report from Ofsted and the Adult Learning Inspectorate
This report from Ofsted and the ALI evaluates the fourth year of this pilot project run by the Learning and Skills Development Agency. It describes the benefits of involvement in citizenship programmes. It explores the issues at the centre of future citizenship development.

An evaluation of the Training Schools Programme
The establishment of training schools to develop and disseminate good practice in initial teacher training (ITT), train mentors and undertake relevant research was proposed in the 1998 Green Paper, Teachers - meeting the challenge of change. During the summer term of 2003, Ofsted carried out a survey of training schools.
