Passing it on

Children and young people in care express their views on proposed guidance for professionals passing on information to each other. They make 17 recommendations and say they expect to be asked first before information is passed on, unless a child is too young to understand or information has to be passed for the child's or someone else's safety. This 2006 report was sent to the Government, who promise to take these views on board when final guidance is produced.

Placements, decisions and reviews

In this 2006 report, children and young people using care services say they are not asked enough about the key decisions that affect their lives. The children say they should have more information to help them choose a suitable placement, the chance to check out their placement first and the support to change their placement if it does not work.

Policy by children

This unique report, published in 2007, gathers together the ideas that children and young people have given the Commission for Children's Rights over the past three years on what councils and people providing services to children and young people living away from home, or getting children's social care services, should do. It is a list of 107 policies that children have said in consultation that they want people providing services to follow.
