Freedom of Information - Ofsted Publication Scheme

This is a revised version of the scheme, previously revised in December 2006. The Freedom of Information Act 2000 is intended to foster a culture of openness in government. It requires Ofsted to adopt and maintain a publication scheme which outlines what information it publishes and how it is made available.

Guidance on the registration of an independent fostering agency branch

All independent fostering agencies must be registered with Ofsted. Each branch of an agency must be registered separately. This guidance explains how we decide what is a branch and what is just an office that is on a different site to the agency’s main office.

Guidance on the registration of multi-site children’s homes

Ofsted has inherited from the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) the responsibility to regulate and inspect children’s social care settings operating from a number of different sites. Such settings should send us their applications to register as a provider.

This guidance sets out how we will process these applications for multi-site children’s homes.

Parents questionnaire - independent school inspections in English and 10 common languages

This questionnaire is used in independent school inspections from April 2007.

A revised version was published in December 2008.

On 6 January 2009 we published the parents questionnaire translated into 10 languages. The 10 languages are the most common we have experienced in our independent school inspections.
