The Prime Minister has expressed his “determination” to establish Britain’s first national care service, in a podcast released today.
Gordon Brown said that he knows there are many people in Britain on middle or modest incomes who worry about the costs of social care as they get older. He said he hopes to set up a service that “starts in the home”, and provides adaptations and home helps.
During the podcast, the PM also discusses the outcome of last week’s G20 summit, climate change and the “tragic” loss of life in the South Pacific, Indonesia and Philippines in recent days.
