As an Innovator you will join the Future Design team and play a major role in delivering business change enabled by IT across the DWP and wider government.

Vacancy description

Future Design within Corporate IT are responsible for the Department's IT Strategy, Innovation and Architecture. Its goal is to articulate a future state for the department, enabled by technology, that creates new operational and policy options whilst reducing costs and enhancing customer service.

Background
We currently have a vacancy on the Innovation team within Future Design. This role will take the lead in identifying opportunities for delivering business value through innovation, leading solutions through to delivery, and pro-actively marketing the business benefits of innovation. In this role you will work with:
? Peers in the DWP business areas to understand strategic business drivers and to ensure Future Design are capable of supporting business objectives
? Peers in other CIT directorates to provide expert guidance and strategic leadership to ensure solutions can be delivered that meet business needs.
? Peers in Other Government Departments to ensure effective alignment of strategy and innovation with Government policy and cross-government initiatives.
 

Skills

Essential requirements:

 

§ Proven ability to demonstrate passion, innovation and persistence in driving change within a large organisation

§ Well developed networking and stakeholder management skills.

§ Experience of communicating and marketing technical concepts and strategies to a wide range of stakeholder communities and groups and all levels of an organisation

§ Broad knowledge of the Department, it's current & future planned use of technology and its relationship with Other Government departments (OGDs).

§ Proven ability to analyse sometimes complex technical and business issues and formulate well-reasoned and logical propositions, resolutions and/or responses

 

Desirable requirements:

 

§ Demonstrable understanding of the DWP Change Lifecycle and governance processes

§ Experience of influencing strategic direction and building consensus with the business in a large and complex organisation

§ Proven track record of delivering IS and IT for commercial benefit and to leverage strategic business advantage
