The first major publication of the group (see link on the right) sets out recommendations in areas which it believes are vital for future economic policy in the European Union over the duration of the new European Commission and new European Parliament.
In autumn 2008, Gareth Thomas MP, Minister for Trade, Development and Consumer Affairs, invited a selection of representatives from British businesses and business organisations, the Trades Unions Congress, British academics specialising in EU affairs and the main UK consumer organisation to form the Group. Participation in the Group is voluntary and the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform is grateful to the Group members for the time and effort they invest in the Group's work.
