Scheme of the Month - Grand Arcade Cycle Park, Cambridge

Cycle Park Sign

The Grand Arcade indoor cycle park, located in Cambridge City Centre, has covered cycle parking spaces for over 200 bicycles. In addition the cycle shop run by Station Cycles, which is based inside the cycle park, offers over 200 valet cycle parking spaces on a daily or long term basis. Luggage lockers are also available from the shop. A free pushchair lending scheme initiated by Cambridge City Council and run by Station Cycles is available


Personality of the Month - Paul Fishwick, Cycle Woking

Paul Fishwick

What is your job or other main activity that involves cycling?
I am the Surrey County Council’s Local Highways Manager covering Woking. This involves maintenance and improvements to the network including cycling. Since becoming a Cycling Town, I have led on the Cycle Woking Project.

How long have you done that?
I have been involved with cycling for the last 15 years.


Scheme of the Month - Cycle Round the World


The Bike It ‘Round the World’ race that begun in Lancaster was taken up by Sustrans Bike It Officers and schools nationally following it’s success in increasing cycle journeys to school in the past 2 years. This year 6 of our local Bike It schools raced over 100 Bike It schools from across England and between them they achieved a massive 5882 cycle journeys in 4 weeks! Most notable were Grosvenor Park and Bolton-le-Sands Primaries which averaged the equivalent of 27 and 26% of their pupils cycling each day
