Capability Review

We have made good progress since the findings of HMRC's Capability Review were published by the Cabinet Office in December 2007, especially at our three, six and twelve-month checkpoints (PDF 84K) (Opens new window).

We are now preparing for our Capability Re-Review in autumn 2009. As with our original Capability Review, this will be carried out by an independent external assessment team. We expect to publish the report by the end of this year.

The findings of HMRC's Capability Review were published by the Cabinet Office in December 2007.

The Review assessed HMRC's ability to meet both the challenges it faces today and those it will face in the future. The reviewers - five independent, external experts from the public and private sectors - looked at how well HMRC delivers its objectives, examined its overall strategy and looked at how well its leaders perform. You can read a copy of the reviewers' report (PDF 290K) (Opens new window).
