The Technology Strategy Board’s Low Impact Building Innovation Platform has £40m of funding to allocate over 3 years, to innovative and collaborative projects to reduce the environmental impact of new and existing buildings. 

VEN Management Ltd (on behalf of Yorkshire Forward) is hosting this unique free event offering businesses in Yorkshire and Humber an exclusive opportunity to;

  • Hear about the two current competitions for funding in Low Impact Building Innovation – ‘Retrofit for the Future’ and ‘Design and Decision Tools’.
  • Meet potential collaborators with whom to bid for funding with support from VEN Group.

Live Competitions:

The "Retrofit for the Future" competition worth a total of £10 million invites companies to bid for fully funded contracts to work with social housing providers, refurbishing at least 50 low rise dwellings as examples and then evaluating their environmental performance. This competition aims to retrofit UK social housing stock in order to meet future targets in reduction of CO2 emissions and energy use.

The “Design and Decision Tools” competition - the Technology Strategy Board has allocated £4 million on a 50% match funded basis to fund highly innovative and collaborative proposals for design and decision tools to help deliver low impact buildings. This funding competition will focus on the development, enhancement and integration of building design and decision tools to help achieve the government’s tough target of an 80% reduction in carbon emissions from buildings by 2050.


  • Dr Kerry J Mashford – Lead Technologist for the Low Impact Building Innovation Platform, will outline the two open competitions, Retrofit for the Future and Design & Decision Tools, the competition processes and answer questions regarding particular project proposals or ideas you may be developing.
  • Wendy Ashton - Head of Relationship Management at VEN Management Ltd, will outline how VEN could help you to collaborate to successfully enter competitions. 
  • Business Link - find out how you can receive support to help you compete to win competitions including training, information, advice and guidance on how to be more competitive.

An exhibition will follow key speakers including Sustainable Futures Company, Business Link and The Modern Built Environment Knowledge Transfer Network and others.

The event will outline the calls in more detail as well as giving delegates a really good opportunity to meet others who may be interested in setting up collaborations to bid for the call.
