Creating a lasting legacy from London 2012 Olympics

Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, visited the site of the London 2012 Olympics in Stratford on 3 September to meet community coaches and athletes from the local Boroughs of Newham and Tower Hamlets.


British hostages in Iraq

Foreign Secretary David Miliband issued a statement on the five men kidnapped from the Iraqi Finance Ministry in May 2007 following the news that Iraqi authorities received a body which they believe could be one of the British hostages.


Afghan opium production in significant decline

The results of the Afghan Opium Survey 2009 released by the UN on 2 September show poppy cultivation has dropped by 22% in a year and opium production by 10%.


Correspondence on transfer of Abdelbasset Al-Megrahi

Fiji's suspension from Commonwealth

Chris Bryant said it is 'absolutely right to suspend Fiji from the Commonwealth' following a significant deterioration in the situation in Fiji and the expiry of the 1 September deadline for a commitment to 2010 elections.
