- Back to: Outstanding providers
The outstanding providers listed include childminders, day-care providers, schools, pupil referral units, colleges and providers of work-based learning and adult education. Most were inspected between 1 August 2007 and 31 August 2008.
The schools and colleges are those judged outstanding for overall effectiveness. The childminders and day-care providers are those judged to provide outstanding care. If they also offered early education, this was also outstanding. The work-based learning and adult education providers are those judged outstanding.
The proportions of providers inspected in each local authority area vary from year to year, and providers inspected do not necessarily represent the local authority as a whole.
Logos and certificates for providers who we judged to be outstanding between August 2007 and August 2008 are presently being produced and are being mailed out to those providers over the next few weeks.
The outstanding providers for this year are listed below, by region

There are a number of childcare providers on the Outstanding providers list who do not have links to their inspection reports.
Since 2001, when we took over the registration of childcare providers, our policy has always been that we do not hold any published information for providers who do not hold an active registration. In line with this policy and to maintain fairness to all providers, this has been applied to the changes arising from the implementation of the Childcare Act and following the introduction of the EYFS in September 2008. This means that previously registered provision that is now exempt from registration will no longer form part of Ofsted's register and will therefore not be maintained on either Ofsted's database or website.
