Business & trade

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has a key role in promoting our companies and products abroad.

We work with colleagues from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, through the joint government organisation UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

In total, there are over 150 UKTI overseas offices in around 100 markets. Nearly 1,500 FCO staff are engaged in commercial and investment work - 350 UK-based and just over 1,100 locally-engaged.

UKTI also have a number of local offices throughout the nine English regions and Devolved Administrations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The UK is the fifth largest trading nation: our exports are vital to our national prosperity. One in four jobs in the UK is linked to business overseas.

Businesses need inspiration and encouragement to 'go global' during this period of change.

Be inspired - watch our short film above to find out how UKTI's services have helped companies target new markets.
