Ofsted is committed to providing a service that is accessible to everyone, at the same level and on equal terms. Our website is designed to maximise ease of use by everyone.

Formats

We publish our electronic publications in PDF and/or Microsoft Word format, with occasional Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint attachments.

You can download the Microsoft Excel viewer or download the Microsoft PowerPoint viewer. Both of these are from the Microsoft website.

You can also read Adobe’s information on accessibility and PDF format.

Web standards

Our site has been designed to conform to all relevant technical standards and recommendations. Some of these are listed below.

• Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (all pages conform to Level A; most conform to the Double-A or Triple-A levels)
• The Central Office of Information's Web standards and guidelines
• The World Wide Web Consortium's standards for XHTML 1.0 (Transitional) and CSS level 2.

Text size

Most internet browsers include a feature that gives you the ability to change the size of the text on the screen. Our site has been designed to work with these features.

You can often change the text size by holding Ctrl on your keyboard and rolling the wheel on your mouse. For other methods, see below.

Access keys

To help you navigate around the site without a mouse, a system of shortcuts to main areas of the site – accesskeys – is in place. These follow the government's standard for accesskeys, with a few additions that are specific to Ofsted.
