Lord Justice of Appeal

The Queen has been pleased to approve that The Honourable Mr Justice Nicholas John Patten be appointed as a Lord Justice of Appeal with effect from 4 June 2009, following the appointment of Lord Justice Collins as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary.

Biographical Note

The Honourable Mr Justice Nicholas John Patten (58) was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1974 and was made a Bencher in1997. He took Silk in 1988, and was appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge in 1998. He was appointed a Judge of the High Court (Chancery Division) in 2000 and was Vice-Chancellor of the County Palatine of Lancaster from 2005 - 2008. Mr Justice Patten was knighted in 2000.
