DSA road safety initiatives

The Driving Standards Agency's (DSA) core contribution is to help deliver improvements in road safety by influencing driver behaviour through setting the standard for safe drivers and trainers, educating drivers, supervising trainers and assessing the standard of driving at test.

As part of this process we seek to ensure that safe driving is accessible to all, and that we support businesses through the testing and appraisal of vocational, fleet and taxi drivers, educating drivers about how to help reduce road congestion and lessen the impact of driving on the environment.

Lifelong learning
After drivers pass their test, DSA continues to support them in safe driving for life in the following ways:

1. Safe driving education

2. Pass Plus scheme

3. Arrive Alive Classic

4. Work related road safety:

  • blue light users
  • driver quality monitoring
  • taxi driver testing
  • occupational driver appraisal
  • fleet driver trainer register

5. Eco-driving
