How the process works

Start your job search by browsing the jobs on the Vacancies page. Click here to search for a job.

Applying for a role

Read the detailed job description and then email to the following documents, ensuring that you include in the subject line of the email the IRC reference number and Job Title:

1. Up to date CV  - ensuring you have included in detail your experience of the essential 5 key skills (taken from the job description).

Recent evidence of the 5 key skills as detailed in the job description must be provided within the body of your CV - failure to provide this may result in your application not proceeding to the next stage of the selection process.

2. Fully completed Competency Application Form (provided at the bottom of the Job Description) outlining evidence of your match against the required behavioral and professional competencies. For more detail on the competencies click here.

3. Diversity Monitoring Questionnaire (Optional)

The Department has revised its competency framework from 6 April 2009.
The competencies for the vacancy you are applying for depend on when the vacancy was advertised.

For vacancies advertised on or after 6 April 2009

There are two types of competencies depending on the job you are applying for:
Behavioural competencies from 6 April 2009
Professional competencies from 6 April 2009

For vacancies advertised before 6 April 2009

There are different groups of competencies depending on the grade and the type of job you are applying for:
Behavioural competencies for Administrative Assistant (AA) to Senior Executive Officer (SEO) careers before 6 April 2009
Behavioural competencies for Grade 7 to Grade 6 careers before 6 April 2009
Additional competencies for specialist and professional jobs before 6 April 2009
