  • Swine flu - latest update now available - 8 May, 3pm - Next briefing 11 May

    Councils are keeping a close watch on reports of swine flu cases, and they have well-developed contingency plans to cope with an outbreak. The LGA is issuing regular briefings on swine flu so that councils have the latest information about the international, national and local response. We will update the LGA swine flu briefing when there are significant developments, but this might not be every day.

  • LGA Smith Square debate: is excessive packaging undermining the war on waste? - 12 May

    This debate will ask what more supermarkets can do to help people increase the amount of rubbish they recycle, and question how much packaging consumers really need? It will build on the recent activity of the LGA's 'War on Waste' campaign, through which LGA Analysis and Research have commissioned BMRB social research to undertake an ongoing survey of supermarket food packaging.
