Welcome to Government Office for the North West
Representing central government across North West England
Regional Minister Beverley Hughes has seen how a community technology initiative is changing people’s lives in East Manchester.
During the fourth meeting of the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) for the North West in March, members focused on the effects the economic downturn is having on local communities.
After the meeting at urban regeneration company New East Manchester Ltd, the Minister met local residents who have benefited from the innovative Eastserve scheme, which has helped improve access to computer and the Internet in the local community, playing a crucial role in helping people find and apply for jobs.
The JEC meeting followed the recent launch by the Prime Minister of ‘Real Help for the North West’, a booklet setting out help that is available now to businesses and families in the region and where to find it. More additional can be found at the Support North West Website.
