Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform
BERR has responsibility for company, consumer and employment law, trade, business growth and regional economic development. Its role is to boost productivity and keep the UK competitive and an attractive place to do business, help companies succeed overseas and to bring foreign investment to the UK.
Department for Children, Schools and Families
DCSF is responsible for all issues affecting people up to the age of 19 including child protection and education.
Department for Work and Pensions
DWP is responsible for promoting opportunity and independence for all, helping individuals achieve their potential through employment and working to end poverty in all its forms.
Department for Communities and Local Government
CLG sets policy on local government, housing, urban regeneration, planning and fire and rescue. It has responsibility for all race equality and community cohesion related issues in England and for building regulations, fire safety and some housing issues in England and Wales.
Department for Culture, Media and Sport
DCMS is responsible for government policy on the arts, sport, the National Lottery, tourism, libraries, museums and galleries, broadcasting, creative industries including film and the music industry, press freedom and regulation, licensing, gambling and the historic environment. It is the department responsible for 2012 Olympic Games & Paralympic Games.
