Resolving disputes: an easier way

Dealing with workplace disputes after 6 April

On 6 April 2009, the statutory dismissal and disciplinary procedures were repealed in England, Scotland and Wales (but not in Northern Ireland).

If you are an employer this means that you will no longer have to follow the statutory dismissal and disciplinary procedures where the 'trigger event' occurred on or after 6 April 2009.

However, where the 'trigger event' occurred on or before 5 April 2009, you will still have to follow the appropriate statutory procedure.

To help you understand these changes we have updated the following guides and tools

Changes to the law on flexible working

From 6 April, the right to request flexible working was extended to cover employees with parental responsibility of a child aged 16 or under.

For more information, see our guide on flexible working - the law and best practice.
