Prime Minister's Visit to Afghanistan, 10 December 2007

The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown visited Afghanistan on 10 December 2007. He was accompanied by the Defence Secretary, Des Browne. The Prime Minister said that defeating the Taleban was essential to tackling terrorism around the world.

 

During his visit the Prime Minister

  • Prime Minister, Gordon Brownmet with Afghan President Karzai and a selection of Ministers and Political figures
  • met British Forces at Camp Bastion in Helmand and thanked them for their courage and patriotic spirit
  • met Embassy staff and unveiled a commemorative plaque there
  • gave a joint Press Conference with President Karzai.
