Observatory Programme Indicators - Home Page

Overview | Glossary | Downloads

Following the last major reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in 2003, the Agricultural Change and Environment Observatory Programme was launched in July 2005 to identify environmental impacts and risks arising from a changing agriculture sector.

An important component of the Observatory Programme is the development of a set of indicators to help monitor emerging agricultural and environmental change. The indicators are based upon proposals from the "Environmental Monitoring Baseline Project" undertaken by CSL/CCRU in 2006.

The overview page offers important background information on the Observatory programme and the monitoring framework.

Each indicator comprises:
i. a data sheet which provides a summary of basic information and data
ii. a fact sheet which provides additional supporting information with meta data on the background and relevance to the framework and statistical and technical details on methodology and data sources.

Indicators are divided into 4 groups:

Mechanisms
Processes: Farm Business
Processes: Farm Management
Environmental Impacts
