Food policy

Food policy is growing in importance for the UK Government, and Defra coordinates this work. The Government is looking closely at challenges and issues that will continue to impact the food chain, and at the impact that food production and consumption has both on our health and on the environment. We also need to look at whether the UK food supply chain is sufficiently resilient to withstand short term shocks and sufficiently robust to face long term challenges, both at home and globally. A number of reviews or initiatives are underway as described here.
