Catchments
The England Catchment Sensitive Farming Delivery Initiative (ECSFDI) is based on a catchment-specific approach.
This includes the prioritisation of catchments affected by diffuse water pollution from agriculture, the appointment of a network of dedicated Catchment Sensitive Farming Officers each assigned to a specific priority catchment, and the establishment of Catchment Steering Groups. Those organised under Phase I are being refreshed where necessary, but there will also need to be Catchment Steering Groups expanded or created in order to represent the expanded and new catchments from October 2008.
In addition, the ECSFDI is also supporting a range of projects in a number of additional catchments, as part of the Strategic Partnership programme to promote catchment sensitive farming more widely with farmers and land managers.
