Export of bovine semen to Brazil
This Customer Information note (CIN) was issued by the International Animal Health Service Delivery Unit (IAHSDU) of Animal Health (AH). Therefore Defra cannot advise on its content. Please contact IAHSDU for further information.
1. Revised export certification is now available for the export of Bovine Semen to Brazil - Part A and Part B (5334EHC & 5334CON)
2. Exporters need to be aware of the following:
- The addition of clauses re. Blue Tongue Virus (BTV)
- The inclusion of additional alternative tests for Brucellosis, to meet current Brazilian requirements and possible future changes to the EU testing regime, but to still allow exports of old stocks of semen.
- The addition of clauses giving extra reassurance to the Brazilian authorities re. the TB and Brucellosis free status of both the semen collection centre and the farms/s of origin of the donor bull/s.
- The change of wording, but not the testing requirements, re. Trichomoniasis and Campylobacter testing for bulls that came on centre prior to 1 January 2005 when EU Directive 2003/43 came into force.
