International trade: Customer Information Notes - GE/08/171
Removal of provision of low volume tests for international trade under defra-vla contract
Purpose
- The purpose of this Customer Information Notice is to inform you that from 1 January 2009 the tests for diseases on the attached list will no longer be available at the Veterinary Laboratory Agency (VLA).
- If you foresee a need for any of the tests on the enclosed list, please let us know using the contact email address at paragraph 5 below, before 12 December 2008; including your details and your organisation, name of the test/s and the reason/s why it/they should not be removed and remain available for international trade.
Background
- The test for diseases on the attached list (see annex) have not been used since 2003. They are not required for any current export certificate.
- In the event that one of these tests (or any other test not currently available) is needed in the future VLA will try to assist. However, if a test has to be developed or reinstated to meet the needs of an individual exporter then the exporter would have to meet the full costs involved in that process.
