New Opportunities White Paper

The New Opportunities White Paper, published in January 2009, includes policy recommendations that build on this analytical work. The 'Supporting communities to support individuals' chapter outlines proposals on increasing the aspirations of young people in deprived areas through a new approach: Inspiring Communities. Over £10 million has been allocated by central government to initially develop this approach in 15 areas. Communities and Local Government, together with the Department for Children, Schools and Families, will lead this work.
