Civil procedure rule committee

The Civil Procedure Rule Committee is an advisory Non-Departmental Public Body set up under the Civil Procedure Act 1997 to make rules of court for the Civil Division of the Court of Appeal, the High Court and the County Courts. The committee meets nine times a year, with a summer break during August and September, and a winter break during January. The committee follows a usual timetable of two statutory instruments, made in summer and winter respectively.

Membership of the committee

Membership of the committee, as set out below, is prescribed in section 2 of the Civil Procedure Act 1997. All non judicial members are appointed, in accordance with the Office of the Commission for Public Appointment's Code of Practice.
