How to become an Additional Inspector for school inspection

There are two types of inspectors for schools.

Her Majesty's Inspectors (HMI) work directly for Ofsted. Recruitment for HMI occurs from time to time directly through Ofsted.

Additional Inspectors (AI) are employed by our regional inspection service providers (RISPs) who are responsible for recruitment and training of AIs to a standard specified by Ofsted.
