Lyons inquiry into local government

On Wednesday 21 March, Sir Michael Lyons published the final report of his independent inquiry into the role, function and funding of local government, "Place Shaping - a shared ambition for the future of local government". The Inquiry was commissioned by the Chancellor and Deputy Prime Minister to consider the current and emerging strategic role of local government and in the light of that, how it should be funded.
