Welcome to the UKBAP website supporting the implementation of the UK
Biodiversity Action Plan (UK BAP) on behalf of the UK Biodiversity Partnership
and the UK Government
"Biological diversity" is the variability
among living organisms from all sources including, inter alia,
terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes
of which they are part; this includes diversity within species, between species
and of ecosystems.
The UK BAP
-
is the UK Government's response to the
Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)
signed in 1992
-
describes the UK's biological resources
-
commits a detailed plan for the protection of these resources
-
major reviews of the Priority Species and Habitats are underway, and the
Targets for these priorities are complete - read about these in the links below
Implementation of the UK BAP is the responsibility of several groups.
Find out how the UK BAP is managed, who these groups are and what work
they do here.
