Catchment Sensitive Farming Officers (CSFOs)
The Initiative is being carried out through a network of Catchment Sensitive Farming Officers (CSFOs). The CSFOs are responsible for individual catchments, co-ordinated at River Basin District Level.
What are the CSFOs doing?
The CSFO role includes:
- encouraging changes in behaviours and practices by engaging with farmers through workshops, seminars, farm demonstrations, self-help groups and undertaking 1:1 farm visits;
- co-ordinating Catchment Steering Group activity;
- undertaking communications and publicity;
- signposting of agri-environment schemes and other incentives; and
- assisting farmers with CSF Capital Grant applications.

CSF Regional Co-ordinators
The Initiative also has one or more CSF Regional Co-ordinators in each region. Regional Co-coordinators operate at a strategic level and ensure that the CSF advice and incentive programme:
- aligns to the River Basin Planning Process;
- is championed both within priority catchments and more widely across the region; and
- reflects the agreed outcomes on diffuse water pollution from agriculture issues identified though catchment appraisal and review.
