Petitions
Petitions have long been sent to the Prime Minister by post or delivered to the Number 10 door in person. You can now both create and sign petitions on Number 10 website too, giving you the opportunity to reach a potentially wider audience and to deliver your petition directly to Downing Street.
Number 10 launched the e-petitions system in November 2006. It is currently in a public "beta test". This means that users are welcome to sign and create petitions, but we will be making changes to the site, as we fix technical problems, improve usability and respond to feedback.
There is an environment category for petitions. You can create your own petition, or view petitions other people have created.
The petitions in the 'environment' category with the most signatures are listed below:
- Refuse permission to any proposals by Bucks County Council to build an incinerator either at Springfield Farm, by the M40 in Beaconsfield, or at Wapseys Wood, off the A40 in Gerrards Cross, both on the Green Belt
- Petition to repeal Countryside and Rights of Way Act so unrecorded rights of way aren't lost
- Exert pressure on the japanese government to halt it's proposed 1000 whale cull in the Antarctic
- Save the Norfolk Broads
- Provide funding and use legislation to create new public bridleways
