The Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (fees) (England) Regulations 2008 come into force
The Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (Fees) (England) Regulations 2008 come into force today. These revoke and replace paragraph 4(2) of Schedule 2 to the Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (England) Regulations 2008 (SI 2008/1881) (the “Principal Regulations”), which introduced fees for the approval of laboratories that test the brain stem samples of specified bovine animals. The fees are identical to those laid down in the Principal Regulations.
Notes to editors
- The Principal Regulations came into force on 7 August 2008. A consultation exercise on these Regulations was carried out between 3 April and 26 June 2008. Ten responses were received. The consultation package and a summary of the responses, including the Government’s conclusions following the consultation, is available on the Defra website at www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/tseregs-2008/.
- Paragraph 4(2) of Schedule 2 of the Principal Regulations had to be revoked and remade by the Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (Fees) (England) Regulations 2008 because the Principal Regulations were incomplete due to a drafting error.
