The economic regulator for the
water and sewerage industry in England and Wales

Price Review 2009: Water Company draft business plans
Each water company in England and Wales has submitted their draft business plans to Ofwat. The plans set out each company's initial view of what it needs to do to maintain its assets, improve services to customers and deal with its impact on the environment.

Ofwat published an overview of the companies draft business plans on 2 October 2008

The draft business plans are a key step forward in the process of setting final price limits for the period 2010 – 2015. Final determinations will be published by Ofwat in November 2009.

How do we compare internationally?
Find out in our online international comparisons report where the water and sewerage sectors in England and Wales are benchmarked against these sectors in seven countries; from Portugal to Canada, Scotland to Australia.

This is the tenth year that Ofwat has published this report, which is the only one of its kind in the world.

Surface Water Drainage
Some companies have changed the way they charge non-domestic customers for surface water drainage. They have moved from a system based on the premises' rateable value to one based on the area of the site from which surface water drains into the public sewers.

This has implications for a range of customer types, including places of worship and community premises.
