Whales and dolphins

In December 2004 the UK banned pelagic pair trawling for bass by UK vessels within 12 miles off the south-west coast of England

Cetacean by-catch

Measures can be taken to reduce the number of small cetaceans (dolphins and porpoises) accidentally killed by fishing activities in British waters. These measures are identified in the UK Small Cetacean By-Catch Response Strategy. For more information see Cetaceans.
