Insertion of cauliflower mosaic virus DNA into host genomes during natural viral infections - CB02025

Description
Research study to investigate whether insertion of CaMV DNA into host plant genome occurs and if so, what the effects are on the stability and expression of transgenes in GM plants containing the CaMV 35S promoter. A review of the current literature on this subject is expected to be part of the study.

Aims

2. To provide a literature review of current knowledge of viral integration into host plant genomes through natural infection.

3. To conduct experimental research on the insertion of CaMV DNA into a natural host and the effect on the stability and expression of transgenes in the same species of plant genetically engineered to contain the CaMV 35S promoter sequence.
