Teachers' Pay 2006
RIG submit joint evidence
to the STRB — July 2006
The Rewards and Incentives Group (comprising ASCL, ATL, DfES, NASUWT, NEOST and PAT) submitted joint evidence to the STRB in July 2006 in response to the Secretary of State's May 2006 remit. This evidence covers a number of key issues including part time teachers' pay, performance management reviews and pay progression, SEN allowances and teachers' professional duties.
The Rewards and Incentives Group submitted supplementary evidence in the form of a letter to the STRB.
School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document 2006 (STPCD)
The pay order which brought the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document 2006 into force from 1 September 2006, was laid before Parliament, with the Document, on 7 August.
After the STPCD was published the DfES noted a small number of typographical errors within some of the pay scales. These errors have now been corrected by a pay order entitled 'The Education (School Teachers' Pay and Conditions) (No.2) (Amendment) Order 2006'. This will come into force on 1 January 2007.
Salary sacrifice and changes to the AST pay spine
The May 2006 Pay Order came into effect on 1 June 2006 and amends the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document 2005 to make it possible for teachers to participate in salary sacrifice arrangements (where offered by their employers), and will provide details of the new pay spines for ASTs from 1 September 2006 and 1 September 2007. Sections 2 & 3 of the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document 2005 have been updated to reflect the changes, the Explanatory Notes have also been updated to provide additional information.
See guidance on applying the arrangements for AST pay assimilation set out in the statutory instrument.
