Property Authorised Investment Funds

Following the introduction of UK-REITs on 1 January 2007, the Government has been continuing to consider the taxation of Authorised Investment Funds (AIF), which invest in property. Taxation of Property AIFs was also raised in an Investment Management Association commissioned report published in October. In response the Economic Secretary announced on 14th December 2006, the creation of a joint Investment Management Association, HM Treasury, and HM Revenue & Customs Working Group to consider its recommendations. Following constructive discussions with the Working Group, industry and other representative bodies on Property AIFs, the Government is today announcing a framework for taking this issue forward.
