New head of Crown Prosecution Service and Director Of Public Prosecutions appointed

The Attorney General, the Rt Hon Baroness Scotland QC, has appointed Keir Starmer QC as the new Head of the Crown Prosecution Service and Director of Public Prosecutions. He will take up post on 1st November 2008.

CPS decision over Newquay hotel fire

There is insufficient evidence to charge anyone over a fire at the Penhallow Hotel, Newquay, in which three people died, the Crown Prosecution Service's Complex Casework Unit in the South West has decided.
