Supporting high quality sustainable growth in England

The Parks, Bracknell

English Partnerships and the Bracknell Forest Borough Council have been working together to identify how the former RAF Staff College site at Bracknell might help local housing needs.  The site will provide a major opportunity to create a sustainable development that integrates with the proposed town centre regeneration programme, with significant input from the private sector.

We purchased the site from the Defence Estates in 2004 as part of an ongoing strategy to make best use of surplus property assets by increasing co-operation between public agencies.

Affordable homes

Bracknell has been identified as an area with an acute shortage of affordable homes.
Proposals for an enhanced scheme to take the number of affordable homes to 437 homes are currently being explored with Bracknell Forest Borough Council.

The enhanced application includes the retention of Ramslade House for community use. It will also provide new buildings close to Ramslade House as use for commercial and community facilities and create a new, vibrant ‘hub’ for The Parks development.

Public consultation

English Partnerships and developer partner Taylor Wimpey have undertaken extensive public consultation. This is to ensure local people are given the opportunity to comment on proposals for the site, which currently has planning permission for 730 homes.

Progress on site

The first phase of the development, known locally as The Parks, is almost complete. This will deliver 220 homes of which 104 are complete and occupied.
