Apple pies withdrawn

Tesco and Livwell Ltd have withdrawn some 'Free From' apple pies, because the apple filling might contain pieces of hard, blue plastic. The Livwell pies are only sold by Waitrose. The Agency has issued two Food Alerts for Information.

An American company has applied to the Agency to extend the use of a DHA-rich algal oil to a wider range of food products, including dairy products, bakery products and soft drinks. The oil is a novel food ingredient.
FSA publishes listeria factsheet

The Agency has today published a factsheet that details key control measures that can be taken to minimise the risk of developing an illness from listeria (listeriosis). The guidance has particular relevance to those preparing and supplying chilled ready-to-eat foods for vulnerable groups.
