Enquiries about the reproduction of images on this site should be addressed to the member institution from which the image originates (the name of the institution will be shown in the "ALT" text which appears if you move your mouse over the image).

Data Protection

Privacy Statement

This privacy statement applies to the Family Records website.

We consider "personal identifying information" to be your names or a unique identifiers (such as an IP address) and your email address. We do not sell personal information to third parties. Personal identifying information that you provide e.g. email address will only be used for such purposes as are described at the point of collection or to respond to your questions or comments.

Aggregate data

Our system collects server log data which will include your IP address, your domain name, the type of browser, the pages you viewed and if you linked to our site from another site. This data is aggregated for statistical purposes so that we can monitor the usage of the site to help us improve the navigation methods and content of the site. On some occasions we may ask you to provide information on online forms. Providing information on online forms is voluntary and you are free not to complete any.

This website contains general information about the member institutions. Nothing on this site is to be taken as constituting specific advice about services of member institutions. Terms for submission of peer reviews

We welcome your views on products such as software or books designed for family historians that you would like to share with your fellow genealogists. However, material submitted is subject to the following terms:

Content

The FamilyRecords.gov.uk Consortium has the right to select and edit any material submitted, and to delete material from the FamilyRecords.gov.uk website at our sole discretion.

You can only submit material where you own the copyright. You may not infringe the rights of third parties including copyright, trademark, privacy, or proprietary rights.

You must not submit any material that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, obscene, sexually oriented, racially offensive, or otherwise objectionable.

Publication

Family Records has the right to reject work on the grounds of infringement of any of the above rules. FamilyRecords.gov.uk is not obliged to publish the work submitted.

Family Records will need your name and contact details to establish a list of copyright owners. We will not pass these details to third parties. We will not publish your name on the website without your permission.

The material you submit will be kept in our archives at our discretion, but not longer than the life of the website.

We will not usually be able to link from your work to any external sites.

Rights

The copyright of the work you submit will remain with you. However by submitting material you agree to us publishing it on our website.

Only submit your review if you agree to these terms.

Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
