Marine Fisheries Science Yearbook 2006/2007
The Yearbook
(1.81 MB) highlights a range of marine fisheries science projects to illustrate the work Defra funded from April 2006 to March 2007. We fund the following types of marine fisheries science:
- Fish stock monitoring and assessments, which provide annual information about the state of fish stocks to feed into international scientific advice;
- Sustainable
marine fisheries research, which covers the impact of fishing on the marine ecosystem, the effects of the environment on fish stocks and fisheries management;
- The Fisheries Science Partnership, which started in 2003 and encourages fishermen and scientists to work together on projects;
- The Fisheries Challenge Fund, which supports short term scientific projects as well as economic and social projects suggested by organisations with an interest in fisheries.
Copies of the yearbook are available from fisheriesscience@defra.gsi.gov.uk.
