Marine and Fisheries science
Defra is responsible for funding, commissioning and managing research relating to the marine environment, marine and freshwater fisheries, fish health and aquaculture. The Marine and Fisheries Science Unit provides scientific advice to the rest of the Marine and Fisheries Directorate, including developing a science strategy to support the work of the Directorate.
